Botan

Botan doesn’t look like much, but it’s one of the best values of any Japanese restaurant in town and the backstreet ambiance goes great with Chiang Mai’s cool evening weather. It doesn’t have quite the variety of creative rolls that Tsunami does (no softshell crabs!), but it’s hard to beat their 5-piece salmon nigiri plate for 105 thb. The grilled eggplant with sweet sauce is one of their specialties, and the talented sushi chef can do some amazing things with cucumbers. A filling meal will run you about 200 thb without beer.
